Certificate of Destruction
The Certification of Destruction is a document that is given to the owner of the car that has been taken to an Authorized Treatment Facility (C.A.T.) to be environmentally dismantled and recycled.
Once the vehicle has entered the C.A.T. site (authorized scrapyard), they have the obligation to certify free of charge that the vehicle is in the process of decontamination. This is done by the Certificate of Destruction, establishing in this way the end of the vehicle´s useful life. To be able to receive this certificate, it is important that the vehicle retains at least the engine and the bodywork and has not been dismantled beforehand.
Remember: This process is not only necessary to comply with regulations but also ensures that your vehicle is treated responsibly and in an environmentally friendly manner.
These are the details that must appear on the Certificate of Destruction:
Company or Establishment Issuing the Certificate:
- Authorization code as a hazardous waste manager in the corresponding Waste Managers Registry.
- Name and address.
- Registration number in the Industrial Registry.
- Signature of the C.A.T. responsible person.
Administrative Body Granting the Authorization for Hazardous Waste Management:
- Holder and address.
Certificate of Destruction Issuance Date
License plate number and national identifier
Vehicle type, brand, and model

If the vehicle has a sealing order recorded in its history, the final deregistration and Certificate of Destruction cannot be obtained until the order is canceled.
However, having outstanding fines does not prevent the vehicle from being permanently deregistered or from obtaining the Certificate of Destruction since such sanctions are associated with the owner, not the vehicle.
